Spider Sacs

So my husband came home from the store one night with a $10 Martha Stewart Halloween magazine, and candy bar and a cold coffee for me.  Very sweet man I have.  Anyways, this magazine was chalked full of Halloween crafts that were super unique and looked amazing.  I felt compelled to try and make one of these crafts.  I don't know why.  Goodness knows it's not like I have ANY free time, but one night as I was thumbing through the magazine I came across a little section on how to make spider sacs.  They looked so realistic and I thought I'd give it a try, looked simple enough.

Yeah right~!  First of all, you would *think* around Halloween that there would be a exorbitant amount of plastic spiders in stores.  There's not.  I looked everywhere.  Shopko, Kmart, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and I finally found some I could alter and use at the Dollar Store.

Making these things was not as easy as it looked either.  I luckily had the help of 3 of my sisters to cut spiders, stuff sacs etc.

The worst part of all was that while adding the finishing spiders with my glue gun, I somehow ended up burning both my hands.  My pinky on my left hand lost a couple of layers of skin and let me tell you, it's not pretty and it hurts like crazy.  Needless to say, Daddy has dish and bath duty for the rest of the week!

Check out these spider sacs, pretty proud of them after all of this ordeal...

I'm an open book.  I can be too honest for my own good.  Maybe a blog isn't the best idea for a person like me, but I can be quite entertaining at times.  Plus, a blog is good for search engine rankings...lol, I'm such a nerd!

As hard as I'll try to keep this blog professional, my lines between professional and personal are very fuzzy and no doubt little instances of my baby, husband, crazy family or crazy thoughts will pop up from time to time (or maybe all the time).

So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!  Welcome to my life!
