"I am sharing my holiday home decor and cleaning tips for the chance to win prizes from The SITS Girls and Great Cleaners."
I don't really have any cleaning tips other than if you see something is dirty, just clean it. Don't put it off, that is my number one tip. Other than that I could really use a new vacuum, mine needs a break for a while.
But on a good note...the Christmas decorations are up and done! After evaluating my Christmas bins I've decided I need to get rid of some of the decorations I have...I no longer am able to use all of the candle holders and fragile decorations, with a little guy running around. A two year old, glass and an open flame are not a good combination. Same with the glass ornaments. Oh geez, did you know when they shatter, they literally break into a million pieces? Decorating takes on a form of it's own when you have a toddler I guess. This year I have three trees, that is a first for me, I've maybe had one and a half up and decorated before, but never three. One is a snowman tree (blue and white), one is a fancy tree (gold and maroon, complete with those glass ornaments, something tells me I'm going to regret that) and our regular Christmas tree with colored lights and homemade ornaments. That one is my favorite. It use to be that I HAD to have a tree with just white lights and all the ornaments had to match and blah, blah. I blame it on my OCD. But once my son came along I imagined the excitement he would have looking at each special (different) ornament and staring at it in wonder. Sure enough, he loves the colored tree most of all. He rearranges the ornaments on it quite often for me, and knows just where each one is.
Slowly, I've been taking decorations from my parent's house that I had growing up. The Santa and sleeping boy pictured below is just a cardboard cut out, but I can remember looking at that when I was my son's age. I love being able to provide him with the memories that made me so happy growing
All of the decorating is a lot of work, but when I see how much my son enjoys it, it makes it all worth while! Below are a couple photos of my decorations. Thanks for reading!
